Comprehensive FAQ Guide
Have questions about Robotic or Keyhole heart surgery? Find clear, honest answers below on how our minimally invasive approach offers better results with smaller scars.
How is "Keyhole" surgery different from traditional open-heart surgery?
In traditional surgery, the chest bone is divided (sternotomy), requiring months to heal. Dr. Ishant performs MICS (Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery) through a tiny 2-3 inch incision between the ribs. This means no bone is broken, resulting in “near-zero” risk of bone infections and a much more aesthetic, barely visible scar.
Can all heart problems be treated with these "Keyhole" techniques?
Dr. Singla uses these methods for a wide range of conditions, including Bypass surgery (MIDCAB), Valve repairs/replacements (Aortic & Mitral), and even congenital defects like ASD. During your consultation, Dr. Ishant will perform a thorough evaluation to ensure you are a suitable candidate for the minimally invasive approach.
I live in a nearby town; how soon can I return home and start working?
One of the biggest advantages of Dr. Singla’s technique is the speed of recovery. Most patients are shifted from the ICU to a room on the very first day after surgery. You can typically be discharged from the hospital in 3-5 days and return to your normal routine—including driving or office work—within 7 to 10 days.
Is Robotic or Minimally Invasive surgery safe for older patients?
Yes. In fact, these advanced techniques are often safer for elderly patients because they cause significantly less trauma to the body. Dr. Singla has successfully performed MICS CABG on patients as old as 80 years. The reduced bleeding and lower risk of complications make it an ideal choice for seniors.
Does "Advanced Technology" mean the surgery will be much more expensive?
While the technology is world-class, the overall cost is often balanced by a shorter hospital stay. Because you recover faster and have a lower risk of post-operative infections or complications, you save on long-term medication, repeat hospital visits, and lost wages from extended time off work.
